Although it's about 10 years too late, I thought I would start keeping track of the projects I'm working on in Blog form! I have had this website for quite a while, but never quite found the best use for it. If anything, it will be a valuable resource to myself for keeping organized. Let's give it a whirl!
About 6 months ago, I bought an Epson V600 scanner to begin digitizing my black and white photo negatives. It's a slow process, but thankfully my collection if negatives is not very large. I do often get the chance to to make proper prints in a darkroom at SUNY Orange, but we also live in the 21st century so I want to explore easy ways of getting the shots online. So far, my results have been OK. The V600 certainly can't put up a fight with a true film scanner, but I wasn't expecting as much. The results I get are good enough I think. I have not tried venturing away from using the included film holders to scan. I have seen all sorts of alternative scanning methods including wet mounting and the like. Maybe someday I'll get there. For now, I simply try to get the best scan using the Epson software and then edit in Photoshop.
